15 Daily Habits of the Rich and Successful

The rich and successful didn't get to where they are by sheer luck or accident.
No.

It's by building on habits that reap significant gains.

While creating wealth is easier said than done, anyone can develop millionaire habits. I'm talking about simple things that you can add or improve on to accomplish something that you can only imagine.

Listen:
I've been poor all my life, and while I was told that a good education is the stepping stone to a wealthy lifestyle, I know better now.

I've scoured the internet and read a couple of books about the habits of the wealthiest CEOs. So, here I am sharing my findings with you.

Here are 15 daily habits of the rich and successful. I've also covered 12 habits you should give up if you want to be successful.

1. They Wake Up Early

Yep, that's the millionaire habit I'll start with. There's a difference between waking up early to hurry through breakfast so that you can get to work on time and waking up early to reflect, pray, meditate, and make plans.

Wealthy people wake up early to warm up for the day. To prepare the mind for the challenges ahead.

A study by author Thomas Corley of the book Rich Habits: The Daily Success Habits of Wealthy Individuals discovered that 44% of the rich wake up three hours before work, and only 3% of the poor do the same.

2. They Eat Healthy

The wealthy value their health over everything else. They understand that the only way to enjoy their returns on investment is by investing in their health first.

So, why don't you start investing in a healthy balanced diet? It may not be as cheap as fast food, but then you will save much more than you would on medical bills.

3. Live in the Future

There's something about anticipating the problems of the Future and solving them that makes rich people richer.

Look at Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO; with the demand for zero carbon emissions, the need for electric cars will go up. Elon Musk lives in the Future. He solves problems we didn't even know we have.

4. Exercise Regularly
Eating habits of the rich go hand-in-hand with regular exercise. Rich people don't make excuses about not having the time to exercise. Most of them exercise daily.

Introducing the exercising habit of the rich in your life can seem like a big step. But it's one habit that will help you enjoy your financial gains.
Fact:

76% of wealthy individuals participate in aerobic exercise four times per week, while 77% of the poor don't

5. Have Goals on top of Goals

Setting goals is vital when it comes to acquiring wealth. But simple plans won't get you there. Wealthy people set specific goals.

For Example;

I want to earn X amount of money by Y time by Z activities.

After setting short-term goals, they go ahead and set long-term goals.

For Example;

I want to retire by age X, with Y net worth, through Z activities.
As you can see, it's not just about short-term goals. Long-term goals are also crucial in acquiring wealth.

6. Keep Daily To-Do-Lists

To achieve a big dream, you have to start somewhere. Daily to-do lists feed the main objective.

Start by writing 4-6 tomorrow's to-do list and start with the essential thing in the morning.

Don't stop until you've completed your list. After that, you can engage in other activities.

7. Read Regularly

Read instead of watching TV and scrolling through social media. When asked about the time spent on TV, 70% of the wealthy watch less than one hour of TV every day. Only 23% of the poor said the same.

Being poor can cause you to stress about everything. TV and social media seem like a good avenue for unplugging. Unfortunately, it does not solve any problems.

Try reading a self-improvement book instead. You will get more value for your time as opposed to mindless hours of watching TV.

8. Live Minimally

Live within your means. This advice never grows old. You'll be surprised how many people buy things they don't need, only to end up in debt. I can attest to this.

Living minimally does not mean going without the basics of life. I'm talking about living in excess at the expense of building wealth.

It may seem like you need to buy good stuff as soon as you have some cash.  But you don't need to buy the newest iPhone model every year it launches.

9. Meditate

Wealthy people focus on self-improvement. Meditation is a crucial part of the process.

Some of the most successful people worldwide, including Mark Zuckerberg, Richarch Branson, Brendon Burchard, and Hsieh Su-Wei, say they practice mindfulness.

"Meditation on a regular basis can help you reach your maximum potential"- Business Mogul Russel Simmons

10. They Network

One of the habits of wealthy people is networking. Successful CEO know that networking leads to innovative ideas. It will not just help you land your dream job, but actively participating in conferences, webinars, and the like is the rich man's way of staying up-to-date.

11. Know When to Say NO

"The difference between successful people and really successful people is that really successful people say no to almost everything." - Warren Buffett

No is perhaps the most important millionaire habit. Saying No to things that eat up your time, negative people, and extra work will make you more productive.

Simply;

We have to master decision-making and time management in order to come out at the top.

12. They Take Breaks

Your time is valuable, but working constantly is neither healthy nor smart. There's a reason why the rich take long lunches.

To work smarter, you need to take a break to refresh yourself. Once your brain is relaxed, you will put more value in the work you are doing, than if you are tired and under pressure.

13. Sleep 7-8 Hours

Did you know:

Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates ensure they get 7-8 hours of sleep every night.

Jeff Bezos, in particular, stated that you need that much sleep, even if you've convinced yourself otherwise.

Sleep is key to problem-solving and handling stress. When you are sleep-deprived, you negatively impact the brain's cognitive functioning, which includes memory, creativity, and decision-making.

14. Have a Work-Life Balance

Most people who work hard say they don't have time for family, hobbies, and the community. But what you will notice from the wealthiest 1% is that they have time for everything, including family, hobbies, and giving back.

Jeff Bezos always makes time to have breakfast with his kids and always sets the time to wash his dishes. Mark Zuckerberg also said that when he's not globe-trotting, he's spending time with his family.

15. Keep it Simple

Creating wealth comes with lots of decision-making. That's why you find the most successful CEOs keep it simple regarding their clothing, food, etc. They don't want to stress about the little things when big things need to be done.

You will notice that Mark Zuckerberg wears the same thing routinely. This is to avoid something called decision fatigue. This phenomenon is described as choices become harder and harder as the day goes, and your finity energy store gets depleted.

Final Words

Money is not a solution for everything. But it can give you a comfortable life.

Money is a sign of passion, creativity, capability, and drive of those who have achieved it. If you want to be like the 1%, you have to incorporate these daily habits that drive you towards being rich and successful.

What area of your life do you want to improve?

Let me know in the comments.

Who Am I?

Everyone reading this post has enormous potential for success.  But ask yourself this.  What makes you come alive? When you wake up in the morning, are you angry that the alarm went off? Or do you get out of bed ready to conquer? The thing is.  If you don't know your purpose, you'll never be happy that another day has dawned.
